A Dutchess County man was taken into custody after he was found to be in possession of fraudulent $100 bills during a traffic stop on Friday, May 31 in the Town of Poughkeepsie, police said.
According to police, Fishkill resident Joel Ruuska, 25, was stopped on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the investigation into Ruuska’s driving privileges, it was determined that he was in possession of two counterfeit $100 bills and he was arrested.
Ruuska was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Following his arraignment in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court, Ruuska was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court this week to respond to the charges.
